Zebra ST5500 Transition RFID Reader — Track Inventory Location and Direction

The Zebra ST5500 is a pre-configured transition RFID reader designed for retailers, distributors, and manufacturers that need to track not only the presence of tagged items but the direction they are traveling. Unlike standard RFID readers that detect presence only, the ST5500 captures directional movement through doorways, aisles, receiving docks, and warehouse portals — enabling automatic inventory updates the moment stock moves from one zone to another. With reader and antennas integrated into one housing, it deploys in minutes via ceiling suspension or wall mount.

Benefits

Catch Every Stock Movement, Automatically

The ST5500 identifies which direction a tagged item passes through a portal, triggering automatic inventory updates the moment stock moves from backroom to sales floor — no manual scanning required.

One Unit Covers the Hardest Environments

From loading docks and receiving areas to metal-dense aisles and manufacturing floors, the ST5500 is pre-configured to operate in zones where fluorescent lighting, metal shelving, and tight read ranges challenge standard readers.

Zero Extra Components, Fast Go-Live

Reader and antennas ship as a single integrated unit. Mount to a ceiling or wall, connect power over Ethernet, and the ST5500 is operational — no additional hardware to source, configure, or cable.
